Hydrogeochemistry of porphyry-related solutes in ground and surface waters; an example from the Casino Cu–Au–Mo deposit, Yukon, Canada

The Casino Cu–Au–Mo deposit is one of the largest and highest-grade porphyries its kind in Canada, residing an unglaciated region west-central Yukon. A batch 22 stream water samples eight groundwater were collected proximal to for purpose identifying most diagnostic trace element isotopic pathfinders associated with hydrothermal mineralization, as well establishing natural hydrogeochemical baselines area. Water chemistry around this was investigated because: (i) has not yet been disturbed by mining; (ii) known have metal-rich waters local streams; (iii) atypically preserved ore zones. Surface ground are anomalous respect Cd (up 5.4 µg l –1 ), Co 64 Cu 1657 Mo 25 As 17 Re 0.7 ) Zn 354 concentrations. Sulfur Sr isotopes consistent interacting rocks mineralization; a sulfide-rich bedrock sample from δ 34 S = −1.2‰ groundwaters only slightly heavier (−0.3 3.1‰).
